Get answers to common questions about DD Detox.
DD Detox removes surface product buildup, excess oils, environmental pollutants, and light mineral deposits. It refreshes the scalp and locs without deep stripping, leaving hair clean and balanced while preserving natural oils and loc integrity when performed by our trained professionals.
Most DD Detox sessions take about 30 to 45 minutes, depending on loc length and condition. We include a brief consultation, targeted cleanse, gentle rinse, and styling guidance so you leave refreshed and ready with minimal downtime.
DD Detox is designed to be gentle and non-invasive; it will not loosen properly matured locs when performed correctly. We avoid excessive manipulation and use techniques that preserve loc structure while removing residues and soothing the scalp.
DD Detox is generally safe for color-treated or chemically processed locs, but please inform us beforehand. We use mild, pH-balanced products and may recommend a patch test or customized approach to protect color and hair integrity.
Frequency depends on your lifestyle and product use. For heavy product users or frequent workouts, a DD Detox every 4–6 weeks helps maintain scalp health. Low-product lifestyles may benefit from quarterly sessions; consult our stylists for a personalized schedule.
Aftercare includes rinsing thoroughly, avoiding heavy creams for 48 hours, and using lightweight moisturizers or sprays. Gently palm-roll locs as needed and schedule regular maintenance. Contact us if you experience prolonged irritation or unusual buildup after your appointment.
